Once being taken into the back, I was berated by both the nurses and the so called doctors; some female did not introduce herself but insinuated she was the physician that could help me. Then the male doctor accuses me misusing the ER, and would not listen that I was instructed to come there by my own PCM. His arrogance was only out weighed by his rudeness. He went as far as to say they as long as he was on duty, which would be for seven more hours, No one, in his ER, would draw my blood or flush my port. Then he threw the plastic bag of text tubes across the room. I have never witnessed such ludicrous behavior from a so called professional in al my life,(and that is almost 60 years). This is so in become and inexcusable behavior for a doctor.
Always have staff that is efficient and knowledgeable. Nursing staff very helpful and friendly. Never had a problem with anyone from reception to rehab to over night care.
They were also going to check my blood levels (especially my diadimer) in case I had a blood clot somewhere, since I’ve recently experienced excessive edema in my extremities. Once my husband and I arrived, we were greeted by a woman who was frankly unhappy just to be there, though we overlooked this and sat down — nievely believing we were waiting for the person we’d been sent there to ask for...who would at any moment call my name and I’d have my port flushed, blood drawn and port cleared once again. We were hopeful that I had no blood clots and that by the time this was done next month, my PCM would have things arranged for this to be done elsewhere so I wouldn’t be going in though an ER and risking my own health. Now this is when the gates of our version of hell seemingly opened.
It would be nice if we could rate such places less than one star. Today was my first experience with Sea Coast ER and certainly my last. Hours later, still I wonder if this afternoon was real, or a nightmare. You see, I was instructed to go to SCMC by my PMC, check in and ask specificity for a nurse who’d agreed to draw some blood for testing and flush my “Smart Port” implanted at MUSC in Charleston on Oct, 2. Though my PCM was to take over care and follow up after implant, nothing since has gone as planned, as it requires specific needles and trained staff, and the one PA they have with the necessary training had been in the hospital herself. This overdue flushing, pain, heighten risk of infection for someone with Addison’s...add into my even more serious medical conditions and the fact that I’ve had recent chest pain around the port, and vast edema in my extremities - a trip to the ER was on the horizon.
Do not go to this hospital in little river, the staff here are totally incompetent, and don't know what they're doing. From scheduling to the people who draw blood, it's really a shame what goes on here.
Not very happy with the doctor on call. He had a smart mouth and he was very rude. Some the staff was also rude and had smart remarks instead of talking to me they talked down to me. Very disappointed.
Outstanding hospital! Staff from the front door, to pre-op, to surgery/recovery are all great! Orthopedic floor staff are the best! Knee replaced on Wednesday and home before the weekend. PT group is also the best! Back dancing in 3 weeks! Couldn't possibly hope for more! THANKS TO ALL THE TEAM!
With all of this, I can not, in good conscience rate this hospital even one star. There is no justification for the way I was harassed and verbally abused through out this two hour ordeal before I asked my husband to take me out of ER.
